Image

Acer palmatum 'Beni fushigi' is a small, deciduous tree that grows to about ten feet tall at maturity. It is typically wider than it is tall. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. Our specimen is planted in part sun, but we believe it would perform better with more shade.

'Beni fushigi' is in the Palmatum Group. It has attractive red-green leaves that do not tend to revert. In the spring, new leaves emerge as a lighter, pinker red that become darker with age. The leaves are heavily divided and the center lobe typically is considerably longer and is curved at the tip.
